Dear Puzzle Enthusiast and Competitor, I would like to welcome you to the United States National Rubik’s Cube Championship for 2006. The Exploratorium in San Francisco has been a wonderful venue for our competitions in the past and we are very grateful that they have donated their time and space for us again this year.

Please be aware of all regulations set forth by the World Cube Association. If there are any questions, do not hesitate to contact a board member of the World Cube Association or a member of the Caltech Rubik’s Cube Club.

I would like to take this opportunity to explain a couple of items about the schedule. In order to facilitate the large expected turnout for this competition, we have allotted three full days. Preliminary rounds will be held on Friday and Saturday. For the main events, you may attend and compete either Friday or Saturday. You may not compete on both days in these events, but you are welcome and encouraged to participate as a spectator.  Events that have preliminary rounds on both Friday and Saturday are listed below:

  • 3x3x3 Speed Solve
  • 3x3x3 One-Handed Speed Solve
  • 3x3x3 Blindfold Solve
  • 4x4x4 Speed Solve
  • 5x5x5 Speed Solve
  • Rubik's Magic

For certain events, preliminary rounds will take place only on Friday. You must be present on Friday in order to qualify for the finals, which will take place on Saturday and Sunday. The events that have preliminary rounds only on Friday are listed below:

  • 2x2x2 Speed Solve
  • Rubik's Master Magic
  • Megaminx
  • Square-1

There is time allotted on both Friday and Saturday for 4x4x4 and 5x5x5 blindfold competitions. Please do not hesitate to contact a member of the Caltech Rubik’s Cube Club for any questions regarding this competition.

Thank you and we hope to see you in San Francisco!
